Before the novels, before the magic and the wars, there is a village of red earth and brick. That is where Ano and Oro grow up — twin brothers of five — with their little sister Siella.
Nothing epic here: a hen that refuses to move, a rain that will not stop, a stream, potatoes. The smallest doors into the world of Eka.
It is the same family as the novels, in the twins’ early childhood. A reader of the novels will recognise them; a three-year-old needs to know nothing at all.
